If you’re a longtime RSA Archer aficionado, who is looking forward to getting plugged back in at RSA Charge this coming September in Orlando, you might have been checking out the event website and the Call for Speakers and noticing something different this year: where did the Technical Tracks go?

The truth is, technical content for RSA Archer Admins to geek out over is still very much a part of the offering, but the way we are arranging the event is a little bit different this year. As a result, you won’t find an RSA Archer Technical and RSA Archer Advanced Technical track, sitting off to the side away from the rest of the sessions. Instead, you can expect to find the same great information in and among the rest of the breakouts.

At RSA Charge this year you will experience the same kind of insights into how to get the most out of your investment in RSA Archer and other RSA products as you always have. And just as RSA’s products bridge the gap between business and security, we think it is important not to create artificial siloes, that separate HOW people use our products from WHAT and WHY they do so.

So this year’s breakouts will be built around the solutions that our customers are adopting, which cut across different products and different parts of the business, as well as different roles. At RSA Charge everyone will learn about and share the ways they were able to leverage RSA Archer to build an integrated view of all their risks. Presenters will talk about the challenges they overcame, tips they learned along the way and the ROI they realized. Attendees will come away with new information, and actionable takeaways to bring to work the next week.

If you are a potential speaker, thinking about where to submit your session, check out the Call for Speakers FAQ. When you submit your session, you will have the option to choose which session track the business problem you were solving best aligns to, and the typical audience-member profile you are aiming for, including technically focused attendees. There’s also a Call for Speakers Guide which can help you understand which track will match best for your talk. If yours is a highly technical topic that doesn’t quite seem to fit you can also submit it for inclusion in the Performance Optimization: RSA Product Learning Lab track. The performance we are interested in optimizing is yours: how you can supercharge your investments in RSA Products and improve your experience overall. And if you are still not sure which track is right for you, don’t worry about it. Just submit your talk and our event planning team will work with you to find the right place for it!

Finally, if you are coming to RSA Charge to learn and attend breakout sessions, look to have clear information in the event materials and on the event website to help you with the hardest task of all: choosing which great session to spend your time in.

James, will there still be an "Ask the Admin" panel?  This doesn't align to any business case.  Many of the best tracks, in my opinion, deal with best practices and configuration tips that span solutions.  Will we lose those this year?

Also, will scheduling take into account the audience?  Without dedicated technical tracks, there's no guarantee the technically-oriented sessions will be spread out over the conference sessions.  If each track has one technical audience session, but they're all scheduled for Wednesday at 10am, that doesn't allow us to attend more than one.

I'm disappointed there won't be dedicated technical tracks this year.  I hope RSA rethinks this before the next RSA Charge.

I apologize in advance for the most negative post I've had in the Community.

I'll echo Margo's comments about being disappointed there won't be a dedicated technical track. Technical tracks were often the ones that fill up the fastest and have standing room only.

As a senior Archer developer nearing 10 years experience, the technical track is the only place I can go to learn new techniques and make Archer do what my clients request. Suggesting we can go to a business session and still learn what we did in a technical track is a faulty assumption.

While we are sharing, the value of the conference is already significantly diminished when the Archer confernence is merged with the other RSA products. The keynotes turn into a sales pitch rather than providing any real value to attendees. We tune out the other products and wait to hear about the one we care about and then they are watered down.

As a consultant I pay out-of-pocket to attend the conference and already regret attending this year.

Please share with your leadership.

Thank you for your feedback and I hope I can shed a light on some of your concerns. I think the confusion is around the speaker track names since we are not specifially calling out the product names in the tracks titles. There will still be RSA Archer focused technical tracks and learning labs at RSA Charge this year and hope once we post the agenda this will be clear. If you have any questions or concerns about RSA Charge 2019 please feel free to reach out to me directly at stacy.sakellariou@rsa.com. Keep the comments coming, we are listening!

Yes, there will be a Ask the Admin panel and we will do our best to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts.

I'm confused.  James explained that there WON'T be technical tracks, that the information will be, " in and among the rest of the breakouts".  The call for speakers specifically lists business tracks to submit presentations in.  I had planned to submit a technical presentation, but did not because it's not related to a business problem and therefore there's no place to submit it.  I doubt I'm the only one.  If there ARE technical tracks, they should be listed in the Call for Speakers.

I think there is a little miscommunication, there is still a technical track. It is called: Performance Optimization: RSA Product Learning Lab - Share your technical insights of how you use RSA products to meet your business objectives.  Extra points for cool ‘insider’ tips and tricks. Please submit your technical presentation here: https://www.rsa.com/en-us/events/rsa-charge-2019/program

Aren't labs different from presentations?  Labs typically offer hands-on experience and provide workstations for participants to use.  Preparation for a lab is much different and much more time-consuming than preparing a presentation.  If I submit a technical topic in the "Lab" track, will I be expected to provide lab materials?

Again, James indicated the technical track presentations would be intermingled in the business tracks.  The message you're sending is very confusing.

Sorry for any confusion. Please just submit your Call for Speakers and we will ensure it makes it to the right track. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

Stacy,

The "Performance Optimization: RSA Product Learning Lab" track does not appear to be Archer specific so that track will fill up with non-Archer topics further diminishing the value for RSA Archer attendees. Is my assumption correct?

The track title states "how you use RSA products to meet your business objectives." Rarely is a business objective necessary for a technical track item. For example, a business problem is not required to learn about more technical items such as Advanced Workflow, JavaScript Transporter, calculated x-refs, etc. tips, tricks, and best practices.

Would you mind addressing my concern about other RSA products watering down the value for Archer attendees? This is a top concern among attendees.

Thanks.

We will be showcasing all RSA products at RSA Charge 2019, this should not effect the experience for RSA Archer attendees.

Sorry Stacy, I strongly disagree with that statement and so do all other Archer attendees.

  1. As I stated above, the general sessions/keynotes are worthless to Archer attendees because it's a sales pitch if you're an Archer customer to buy the other RSA products and vice versa. You cannot address all attendees for all products and levels within an organization and provide value. 1st rule of communications...know your audience.
  2. Networking with other attendees diminishes because they don't do the work we want to discuss. This is one of your top selling points for attending.
  3. Roughly half (or more depending on the product the customer uses) of the vendors/sponsors are completely irrelevant.

Sorry this isn't the feedback you're interested in hearing. This is the reality of the situation. This feedback is meant to help RSA maintain a valuable conference for RSA, attendees, and vendors.
