In his recent blog post “The Most Universal Language We Forget,” my colleague Mason Karrer suggests that risk may in fact be our most shared awareness, as basic as our innate “fight or flight” response. I would agree – and I would emphasize that this universal risk awareness is increasingly critical for enterprises in this global economy. Organizations are compelled to manage important risk across business lines with geographically disparate teams. Language can’t be a barrier in effectively sharing risk data.

To that end, the latest software release for the RSA Archer GRC Platform, 5.5 SP2 provides enhanced multilingual functionality that benefits both Archer users and admins.

With Release 5.5 SP2, users can easily select the language for interacting with the Archer dashboard based on their locale, and users in different locales can interact with the same solutions in the same instance of Archer. There is no need to create multiple versions of the instance to accommodate multiple languages.

Based on feedback from customer members of our Globalization Working Group, this release allows administrators to bulk import/export translations and provide them to a third party without having to provide Administrator access to make these changes within the Platform. New functionality also enables admins to swap the design language on Archer objects including Module, Global Values List, Solution, Dashboard and Workspace. Another exciting enhancement with 5.5 SP2 is integration with the RSA IMG solution (formerly Aveksa). For joint Archer/IMG customers, admins can now export users, groups, group memberships, roles and roles memberships from Archer and import them into the RSA IMG solution. This provides IMG admins with visibility into Archer users and roles, in order to put in place a governance process for access (such as access reviews, access rules and access requests).

Last, but certainly not least, we’ve delivered several additional tactical enhancements with Release 5.5 SP2 based on feedback from our customers. New “navigate away prompts” give users a pop-up prompt as a reminder to save changes to an edited record when attempting to leave the record.  This will keep users from accidentally losing work.  Improvements to notification and letterhead templates enable users to edit the raw HTML for letterhead to use/reuse available HTML letterhead sources. With new smart inherited record permissions, users now have the ability to inherit record permission from all related references by default, and select inherited permission from all or selected references in related levels/applications. And, data publication service (DPS) enhancements provide admins with the choice to publish only new or updated records from the time of the last publication to reduce the overall processing time.

Whew! Quite a “service pack,” don’t you think?
