Custom object to display hover text for values of a values list field

Am looking for a custom object which can display hover text/help text for the values of a values list field. Any suggestions really helps. Thank you!

Srini, it's probably easier to create the help text for the field with the values and there description.  Then set the help text option to Icon.

Hi David, Thank you for the prompt response. We are already doing that but App Owners are really looking for mouse hover functionality. Am trying from my end using custom object but please let me know if anyone already implemented similar functionality.

I agree, the current tooltip is a very poor UX.

If you're on-prem I believe you can accomplish this by modifying the ascx code (did this at my last client on v5.x tho).
Just be sure to house it in source control somewhere b/c platform upgrades will overwrite it.
