The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is responsible for managing the electricity and gas systems and markets across Australia, helping to ensure Australians have access to affordable, secure and reliable energy.
The Australian Energy Sector Cyber Security Framework (AESCSF) program provides a tool for assessing cyber security maturity across Australia’s energy sector. In 2021, the program was extended to gas markets and non-Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) electricity grids and markets. In 2022, the AESCSF has been extended to the liquid fuels sector, to enhance uplift and support consistency across the energy sector.
The AESCSF assesses cyber security maturity and uplift capability, which strengthens the energy sector’s cyber resilience. The AESCSF was developed in 2018 by AEMO, industry and the Australian Government.
