As the next step in our continued efforts to improve the user experience for both administrators and business users, I’m very pleased to announce Directed Availability for RSA Archer Release 6.2.

This latest release provides RSA Archer customers with a mobile-ready interface that addresses accessibility requirements, new capabilities for RSA Archer Administrators to configure, secure and manage their organization’s risk and compliance processes, and best practice enhancements for several RSA Archer use cases.

Beginning December 20, 2016, RSA Archer Release 6.2 will be made available as a Directed Availability release for on-premise installation to customers who request it. RSA is committed to high quality and performance standards. In RSA Archer Release 6.2, we identified a degradation in data feed throughput that fell short of those standards to be considered for General Availability (GA). However, the other features within this release are long awaited and we are anxious to make them available to you. Therefore, we are providing 6.2 as a Directed Availability release.

Customers who choose to install Release 6.2 may experience some performance degradations on large data feeds. Users may also identify areas needing improvements to the functionality and aesthetics of the user interface. RSA Archer is actively working to remediate the aforementioned impacts and release a GA version of 6.2.

For Release 6.2, without question, the headline feature is removal of Silverlight from the front office. Business users will no longer see the spinning Silverlight “Loading…” circle as they conduct their day-to-day work within the Platform. Release 6.2 is the beginning step in the process to remove Silverlight technology from the RSA Archer Platform, to provide you with a more consistent user experience, to improve accessibility, and to support the experience for tablet users.

In addition to the first stage in removal of Silverlight, Release 6.2 also delivers a number of other enhancements, including:

  • Dashboard export – export dashboards that contain iViews of reports and much more as a PDF file, and then print or share the information
  • Advanced Workflow - search and report on Advanced Workflow Job Status within Advanced Search, to easily interact with records that are enrolled within the workflow review process.
  • Data privacy - encrypt new sensitive and confidential text fields
  • SAML 2.0 support for single sign-on – new capabilities to authenticate identities using the SAML 2.0 protocol
  • License and package delivery notifications – additional logging messages to help easily correct packaging issues during the installation process, and a license expiration warning
  • GRC administration enhancements – new administrative functionality to ease administrator management tasks

RSA Archer Release 6.2 also provides enhancements to out-of-the-box use cases in keeping with industry best practices and standards. New functionality for RSA Archer Third Party Engagement automates the process for business users to request third party products and services, and RSA Archer Resiliency Management now includes a Lessons Learned Assessment to query crisis team members following a crisis to determine what went well and what requires improvement.

We do understand this Directed Availablity version has some minor issues with the Datafeeds, could you please explain what kind of issues the developers/users will face related to this?

The "performance degradation on large data feeds" refers to the speed at which records are processed (throughput). The impact to your developers/users depends on what you are using your data feeds to accomplish. With real-time user interface (UI) interactions and the dependencies on a particular data feed, it's possible that users may not notice a performance issue at all. Again, large data feeds are where you could see a possible performance issue.

Is there any indication as to when the General Availability (GA) Release of 6.2 will be available?  Just deciding if it's worth making the jump now or holding off but time is a factor in my decision.  Thanks.

Ben,

While we are working through the outstanding items as quickly as possible (believe me, we'd really like a GA release soon), I am unable to provide a possible timeline.
